Being a Leader

Summer Welcome leaders are an important and unique group of students on Mizzou's campus. Being a Summer Welcome leader is a highly sought after position on the Mizzou campus.

Hundreds of students apply each year, but only 36 students are chosen. The leaders are a diverse group of people in ethnicity, sexuality and personality. The committee looks for people who embody the spirit of Mizzou and are willing to go above and beyond to make incoming students feel welcome. Students are notified of their acceptance in early March and their  training begins immediately.

The Summer Welcome leaders have a lot of fun over the  course of the summer, but they also work really hard.  To learn more about being a Summer Welcome leader, check out the audio clips from 2013 leader Shelby McGhee.
